Product DescriptionThese shoes are basically a stripped-down XA Pro 3D meant for winter adventure races. When they arrived, I figured they'd be about the same size and weight as the previous pairs of XA's I'd used. They are lighter and have much less "stuff" on them, built more as a race shoe fitting very tightly around your foot without extra sole material.

 SCS2 Outsole Grippy Dealies
-=Features=-
-Weight: 11 ounces per shoe
-Salomon "Quicklace" Kevlar lacing system
-"Winter Contagrip" outsole with 40-some chevrons of semi-soft rubber for grip in snow
-=Notes=-
-Salomon replacement lace kits are a huge pain in the ass to install. However, the laces last a long time, and undamaged portions of the old Kevlar laces make for great keeper cord on cameras and gear.
-I wear a US size 14 shoe typically. This and previous Salomon products are one size smaller, as the 13's fit perfectly. My feet are slightly wide, and I have had zero problems running with Salomon shoes.

Voted 3/5 | The rubber is really soft. The soles have worn down quite a bit. I guess the soft sole helps some. It's good on 5th class slabs, but aweful for any edging. It's also not waterproof, and I haven't been able to do a route where I'd take these as approach shoes, so I'm unsure of other stuff.
That said, I love them. Great shoes. Very light. When the sole dies, I'll slap some Stealth or similar climbing rubber on them.
I believe Salomon should put a carabiner loop on the back of each shoe. | | Posted Jan 15, 2009 10:30 pm |
