Standard Product Description

Providing maximum snow-moving power with rapid deployment, the Black Diamond® Transfer shovel has a stiff reach for deep pits.

Unique patent-pending trapezoidal bent shaft offers maximum extension through two-piece shaft design, enhancing both reach and strength
Shaft deploys quickly via a quick squeeze of spring pins; shaft shape prevents rotation for positive engagement of spring pins every time
Ergonomic T-grip handle feels like a D-grip but packs small and is glove- and mitten-friendly
Sturdy anodized 6000-series aluminum blade in a smooth and flat shape carves quickly through snow during recovery and cuts clean during pit analysis
Pointed blade enables more effective chopping and flat sides help in smoothing pit walls; anchor holes through blade allow use as a dead man anchor

Personal Review

An extendable handle is great to have, as is a metal blade. The curved shape means higher strength, but it won't cut neat blocks for your igloo. The curved top edge also makes it hard to stomp on the top of the shovel, as when trying to cut through stiff wind slab, but that also means you won't likely deform the blade. I like the Tee handle and the trapezoid tubing, as well. Definitely a well-designed, very strong unit. Comes in two sizes.

When it's not being used in the mountains, I use mine as a one-handed dirt mover in the garden.
