Product DescriptionThe D9 is probably the biggest avy shovel made! It is not in the current BD catalog, but still available on ebay. I have included it because it is such a workhorse shovel. I take mine when I know I will be dealing with coastal snow pack, ie wet, heavy consolidated snow. For the Rockies it is overkill, and other shovels will work just fine, but each tool has its job!
This shovel has Black Diamond's largest, most-durable aluminum blade, it features a ridged top to reduce boot slippage when stomping. The D-grip provides a solid hold, and a telescoping handle allows for enough leverage to pry apart refrozen-block piles
