Voted 5/5 | Western Mountaineering is one of the better sleeping bag makers in the business. The Highlite is a summertime bag that is a dream to deal with. So lightweight, barely over a pound and it compresses down to the size of a Nalgene water bottle. I wish it had a full length zipper since I use a Hennessey Hammock but the half zipper is part of the weight savings and I make do. The bag is made up as you can see from the pic of sewn through seams but for the summertime camping I do, even in the Enchantments, it does the job nicely and allows me to pack everything I have in a small Saloman windraid 30L pack. The dimensions would make this bag a little tight for anyone bigger than me ( I'm 5'9") so I'd recommend that you actually get into the bag at the store before you buy it, just to make sure it will work for you. For summertime camping, a 5 star bag. | | Posted Nov 10, 2002 7:26 pm | | kullaberg | Untitled Review | |
Voted 5/5 | i'm a guide in the sierras and spend 50-60 nights on the ground every summer. i've had all kinds of bags in the past 20 years, but found what i always have been looking for when i bought this bag two years ago. this bag is soo compact, ultra light and totally appropriate for high altitude summer use in those mountains, combined with a tent and long underwear on the coldest nights. the fit is tight, but reasonable (i'm 6'2", 175 lbs), workmanship is superb, price is not too bad.
all my recommendations. | | Posted Nov 27, 2002 7:39 pm |
