Voted 5/5 | I have the earlier version of this watch, and I find it to be one of the most useful navigation tools I own. Regularly calibrated, it's very accurate. It's light, small and the controls are simple, so I use it all the time. I do 99% of my navigation with a topo map and altimeter.
The only real drawbacks to this watch are that it lacks an internal light for nighttime use and the alarm is not loud enough.

Voted 3/5 | Positives: Valuable features for mountain climbing: altimeter, rate of climb - short term, rate of climb - long term. Sensitive altimeter - 10 ft. accuracy is real. Easily readable LCD screen. Lots of extra functions - about 8 screens in all. Negatives: Stopwatch function on my watch was very inaccurate - ~1% error. Expensive to maintain - mail in with $20+ every two years to change battery and clean. Not durable. The top two buttons became harder and harder to operate, until they finally quit working altogether. Only wore it four months per year for 8 years.
Would I buy another one? Probably not. | | Posted Mar 2, 2004 8:05 pm | | Moni | Untitled Review | |
Voted 2/5 | While at first I thought this a very neat tool, over time I have become disenchanted with it. Too many buttons and not very durable. Sending it in for a new battery is a pain. Some of the features no longer work.
