ReviewExcellent all around boot. These boots suprise you in that they are not flashy, not particularly expensive, nor technically advanced. I liken them to the 50 year old Whirlpool washer/dryer at Sears. They got the design right 50 years ago, why mess with a good thing?
These boots are not the most comfortable boot on the market, but after a short break in period, they will again suprise you. I've heard complaints that they are heavy and cold. I have experienced neither. I took them on two trips to Denali and one winter ascent of Shasta and they performed like a charm. However, like all boots, you need to try them out and each persons feet dynamics/tollerance varies.
Some people have liner inserts and some have gone so far as to remove the stock liner and have a custom liner "vaccuumed" to their foot. I find that over time, these liners break down. I simply put in an arch support and that seems to work for me. Images |

Voted 4/5 | I have read several reviews that bash this boot for heel lift, but I have also read several that praise to boot for warmth, support and value. The boot is dead simple, so simple when i first explored it's features I thought "That's it?", but after taking this boot out on a couple of climbs and approach hikes I have figure out some of it's quirks. To avoid shin bang while walking undo the top laces, it has nice lace grippers that allow you to have different lace tension on the uppers and lowers. Great little feature. I have also used for all day ice climbing with no problems. | | Posted Jan 20, 2010 11:14 pm |
