Product Description

With the features you need for all-around performance, the Focus is neither stripped down nor overly padded. Anatomically contoured and padded closed-cell foam on the waistbelt and leg-loops, the bullhorn waistbelt and droppable leg loops provide support and cool comfort. It has four pressure moldedl gear loops and reinforced belay and haul loops. Providing durability and convenience, the Focus SA is built with prethreaded waist and leg loop quick adjustment buckles that just need to be tightened or loosened to fit. Excess webbing tucks into the Hypalon®-backed belt loops.

I climb a lot, so believe or not, my last Focus, which was not all that old, the rap loop did start to come un-stitched. I don't fault Black Diamond much for that. My harnesses put up with a lot of abuse, for no more than I have to pay for them versus how much I use them. That is a lot of rapping, a lot of sandstone. In any regard, both the Chaos and Focus are neither the same harness. I have no idea why they kept the Chaos name on their spring 2009 new tech harness, completely different harness and one of BD's employees agrees with me on that. I stayed with the Focus...I need some comfort for hanging belays, broken back. The speed adjust is all new for the waist and legs. They are making the small smaller than they used to. Less bulk on front and sides...dug into my hips a little compared to the old model. The leg loops hold their position much better. Don't know if I like the re-thinking on the rear straps much though. Like a lot of things, kind of wish I had bought two of the old Focus AL's. But maybe it will wear on me over time, excuse the pun.

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
