Voted 5/5 | What can I say about Osprey? Excellent quality packs at a reasonable price. This pack fits great and will compress to hold a little gear or I can cram a weeks worth of stuff in it. Definitely a great buy and now the first pack I reach for going out the door. | | Posted Mar 24, 2009 3:19 am | | Autoxfil | Perfection? | |
Voted 5/5 | My favorite features are:
The shape. It's very narrow at the bottom so you can move through tight chimneys and slide down rocks without snagging it.
Weight to durability ratio - the pack is not built like a lightweight pack at all. Heavy Cordura is used in all wear areas, and yet the two packs I weighed (both 52s) came in 3oz under the specified weight! My medium is 3lb 8.5oz, which is just incredible for a durable 52L pack with tons of features and a real frame.
Ice tool attachments. Best on the market by a mile.
Crampon pocket - I love that it's huge and tough - adds weight to the pack, but now I can leave my 5oz crampon pouch home. When the crampons are on my feet it's a great place for things I want quick access to on the climb.
Ice clipper slots and gear loops on the hip belt - lets me go with a slimmed-down harness and keep that cushy hipbelt on when climbing. The gear loops hold a bunch of pro or my ice tools.
There's a rope strap which can be routed over or under the lid. It works very well for a sleeping pad as well.
And, it has a nice beefy frame and hipbelt so it carries weight well! | | Posted Jan 29, 2010 6:00 pm |
