Voted 5/5 | I know there are some people who would rather die of malaria than use 100% DEET but I'm guessing that most of them have not hiked through the Sierra during prime mosquito season. When we hiked the PCT, almost everyone, including those who said they would never use DEET, used it at least some of the time. We went through a swampy valley, I think it was at the start of Yosemite where the mosquitoes were so bad, even with a headnet they almost drove us crazy.
