Product DescriptionDesigned specifically for 2007 Cobra and Viper tools, this leash has the same features as the Android, but is designed to connect directly to the shaft with a secure bolt and stud system.
FeaturesQuick clip exit system for getting out of the leashes with one hand operation fast! Easy/quick sinch down system is one hand operable as well. These attach to the tool via a little bolt in the back of the shaft. Once unclipped, all that is left on the tool is a tiny piece with a tiny bit of webbing. A word of CautionRecently, a user of these leashes has had them nearly come apart on him! While I have yet to have this happen to me, it is worrisome and definitely something to pay attention to. It will be interesting to see how BD handles this and if any future cases of the same problem crop up.
Here is the LINK to the forum topic written about the webbing coming apart on the leashes with pictures. Its on Mountain Project dot com and was brought up in February of 2008.
Also, I have noticed that with using these tools on my Cobras that the sharp edge on the leash tab has cut into the clear-coat on the spine of the tool. So far it hasn't worn into the carbon fiber, but after only a few times out with them, its troubling that these would wear into the shaft of the tool. I only keep the leash tabs on the tools and have yet to climb with the leashes other than a quick practice session after first buying them. See pictures.

Voted 3/5 | need some rethinking/engineering (See above section: Word of Caution). Except for the above problems these are really light-weight and they work very well with the tools they're designed for. It's a quick/easy release to get out of the leashes either by unclipping them from the tool and leaving them on your wrist, or by removing your hand from them and leaving them on the tools. Easily adjustable as well for different lengths. I climb water ice leashless, but when I head into the alpine realm, I want a leash but one that's easily removable for placing pro. These are the answer. | | Posted Jan 14, 2008 12:41 pm |
