A new guidebook for the Pinnacles, this guides includes a section on the history of climbing in the Pinnacles, in addition to locator maps, topos and route descriptions. From the preface:

This guidebook is a labor of love. It is designed to fill the normal guidebook functions, but it is also intended to document the long history of Pinnacles climbing. As a rresult the secton of this book entitled "Climbing History" may be longer than is commonly found in other guidebooks. Also, every effort has been made to list all known climbing routes ever made at Pinnacles, as well as all known first ascent information including parties, dates and methods of ascent.

lisaeA Great Guidebook!

Voted 5/5

This book has wonderful locator maps and topos, which addresses my major complaint about the Rubine guidebook. The route descriptions are very good, too.

It may be hard to get your hands on this book as it is self published. You may be able to get it at certain Bay Area climbing stores & gyms, in addition to the Pinnacles Visitor's Center. Alternatively, you can email the author at mtnyoung@mlode.com
