Molded wishbone external heel counter for great ankle support."

Merrell Phaser Peak

I have used these boots on tough snow climbs with Black Diamond COntact Strap crampons to mostly good effect. Since they are fully flexible boots, anything class 4 and up is dangerous, as crampons will obviously weasel their way off the boot. They are nice, comfortable boots that are waterproof, but will get cold when exposed to wet snow for more than a day, as they are leather.

A nice pair of boots. They don't seem too hot in the summer, and they keep my feet warm in deep wet snow on day trips or less. Have climbed with strap crmapons on these up to class 4 mixed terrain, which wasn't the best idea.
