This Film follows Eric Jones on the first Solo climb of the Eigers notorius North Face. The film traces the history of this great mountain including the early pre war attempts that gained the mountain its formidible reputation. the climax of the film re creates John Harlin's Five thousand foot fall during a winter ascent of the Eiger Direct in 1966. In order to film Eric on his Solo Climb Leo Dickison had to be lowered from a helicopter to Death Bivouac, this has produced some stunning footage.

ok there are 2 parts to watching this video. First off i believe climbers are obsessed with history and details (myself included) I have developed a fascination with the eiger due to just the sheer weight of impact this mountain has had on climbing and mountaineering. So in that respect its a great way to make this mountain come alive, and really get an inside look at the "white spider". However the dvd seems to have not been produced as well as it could have. I understand it's footage from the early 80's but in between chapters it "winds up" or pauses before it changes. And then if you try to access scene by scene i have to press play at every chapter instead of just having continous play. In other words to watch it just pause it instead of stopping and using trying to fast forward. Really annoying but other than that a great video!
