Reviews | Alpinist | Excellent guide book | |
Voted 5/5 | This is an excellent planning and field guide for climbing the West Buttress. It provides a detailed description of the route and campsites, with incredible aerial photos of the entire route by Washburn. It also includes advice on gear selection, weather, climbing strategies and other useful information for climbing Denali. | | Posted Mar 31, 2007 3:06 pm | | UncleBob | A lot of filler | | Voted 3/5 | once you take out all the fluff, like historical anectodes and whatnot you're not left with much. this book seems to be targeted at non-technical clmbers looking to get into expedition climbing and doesn't quite manage to provide the kind of advice suitable to novices and is unsuitable for anything other that the west butt.
The info inside is good, but you'd be much better off spending your money on the supertopo alaska guide, which is superior in every way. | | Posted Apr 10, 2007 12:07 pm |
