Voted 5/5 | I couldn't put it down once I started it! It was very suspenseful, especially towards the end... this is even after I knew most of the story from having worked at SEKI for a couple of seasons.
I also liked the fact that Eric included excerpts from Randy's personal writings and journals. Randy had a touch of John Muir in him and his writing was very inspirational and beautiful. | | Posted Jan 29, 2007 7:04 pm | | Smith93 | AWESOME!
Voted 5/5 | I read this book shortly after it came out and LOVED it. It's very well written and the story just pulls you in and you can't put the book down. I even had the opportunity to meet Eric when he came to speak at the REI Santa Ana store. Plus just this last summer I hiked through the same area where Randy had disappeared, its one of the most beautiful sections of the Sierra and it was very striking to have just read that book and to then be hiking through the same area. | | Posted Jan 31, 2007 6:10 pm | | KirtDavis | Nice Read

Voted 3/5 | I heard a lot about this book and while it was o.k., I felt it was not all it was cracked up to be. A bit wordy and long winded, there was (I felt) too much fluff leading up to a kind of anticlimactic ending. | | Posted Mar 18, 2008 5:33 pm |
