Product DescriptionThese convenient vacuum-packed meals take up less space in your pack (or bear canister) than traditionally packed dehydrated or freeze-dried meals. They do not expand at high elevations. They are also a hearty single-serving (16 oz) and cost about $5 at REI and other retailers. To make, you open up the pouch, which stands up on its own, remove the little preservative pouch, then add 2 cups of boiling water and stir it up. Close the pouch and let it sit for 8 minutes, then open it up... and voila, you've got a yummy meal :)
Please note, the photo shows the Chili Mac Flavor, but they come in lots of flavors. The Lasagna with Meat Sauce is really good, as is the Chili Mac. Images |

Voted 5/5 | The lasagna with meat sauce comes with me on most of my backpacking trips. It is very tasty, unlike some other brands of dehydrated/freeze-dried food that I've tried. It's also very cheesy and the sauce is flavorful. I also like the Chili-Mac but this one is a little spicier than the lasagna. Voted 5/5 | The ultimate in fast food! A lot of calories, nutrient fortified (usually...), and tasty as well. I usually go with finger-food that doesn't need to be cooked, but this stuff is so easy (and dang if it isn't nice to have a hot meal after a long day), I've been bringing along the stove on more and more trips.
