Mad Rock says: Mad Science on ice! And rock! This boot will increase your speed and take you to more challenging moves because the lightweight, waterproof Mountain outperforms any mixed climbing boot. Innovative strap cuff ankle creates the perfect tension for ice. The low toe rand gets your toes jammed into those cracks tightly and the smooth hardware-free forefront keeps you there. Super high rand edges like a rock shoe. Some outings don't require a full rack of ice screws and the Mountain will take you there too. You've wrung out your last pair of socks at the trailhead, because our Kevlar polyester upper will completely seal out water on a Cascades trek when the weather goes soggy. From dry tooling to a snow slog, when a plastic is too much and a hiking boot isn't up to task, call in the Mountain.

Reviews | dawuda | Budget Boot | | Voted 3/5 | The Mad Rock Mountain is a sturdy boot. It is very rigid and works great in steep situations. It is reasonably light and very warm. I have used them for winter climbing and summer hiking. They worked great with my snowshoes. The rubber is great on rock. There are several downsides. I broke a lace on one of my first trips using them. I have gotten blisters nearly every trip i've taken. It is hard to tighten the laces due to the crummy eyelets. The Alpinist has way better eyelets from what i can tell. The sole has such soft rubber, the lugs are showing considerable wear after light use. I took them to a melting water fall one day and they leaked water. Overall, i'm liking them more and more. The more i wear them in, the better they get. I would recommend them for someone with a budget that wants a sturdy boot and doesn't mind some compromises. | | Posted Mar 8, 2007 6:09 am |
