Garmont Adrenalin G-Fit
The Adrenaline is the first freeride alpine touring boot which fits most ski mountaineering bindings and using a unique Dual Frame technology, all ISO downhill boots as well. It comes with two soles. The ski mountaineering sole is self-cleaning, and has a traction sole with a built in rocker for crampon compatibility, climbing, and hiking/touring comfort. The ISO compatible downhill sole fits all ISO alpine bindings and is screwed on with 11 Phillips head screws. Whether you need powerful, high, and stiff to crank those alpine boards, or lightweight, free-moving, and articulated for ski mountaineering, the Adrenalin will do it all. Using Nylon, PU, and reinforcing Carbon Fiber in the shell, the Adrenalin combines performance, lightweight, with minimal flex changes due to temperature. The a.d.d. tongue is higher and reinforced on the inside to transmit pressure to the downhill ski, while it’s lower on the outside to allow smooth ankle flexion to control the uphill ski. An a.d.d. toe shape is anatomically shaped for warmth, skiing sensitivity, and a secure fit. A unique double-injected tongue creates a smooth, progressive forward flex, while dispersing buckle pressure over a large area to eliminate shin bang. 4 micro adjust buckles plus a power strap hold you in. The lower two are inverted so they don’t open while hiking or climbing. The cuff buckles have an additional telescoping hook for walking, and can be moved 18mm for or back for different calf sizes. The cuff is carbon fiber reinforced, and has 3 positions: a 20 and 25 degree forward lean, as well as free “walk” position. There is a removable spoiler, and the cuff has internal “stops” that evenly distribute pressure where it meets the lower shell for optimum flex. In addition, there is a hidden gel shock absorber in the heel for additional comfort. The G-Fit Thermofi t liner has three different closed cell foam densities and thicknesses. The softest foam is used in the forefoot and tongue for warmth and comfort. A stiffer support density wraps the rear of the foot, which is reinforced by an even beefier cuff density. The simple tongue design makes entry and exit easy while maintaining the forward lean. For mail order customers, any good downhill ski shop should have trained knowledgeable staff to assist you with thermofi t fi tting. The warm G-Fit (Thermofit) liner saves you a pound over the standard liner, while giving you a warmer, custom fit. |
Reviews | snowbound | Untitled Review | | Voted 5/5 | I love these boots! Stiff enough for the groomers at the resort and plenty of flex for backcountry use. I bought them so I wouldn't have to slug so many boots on my winter climbing/touring trips. Great for skiing into the backcountry and climbing low grade water ice. With a crampon, of course. They worked well on WI 3+. You can't do everything with one set up, but you can get alot of use out of these! | | Posted Feb 28, 2005 6:54 pm | | kheatwol | Untitled Review
Voted 5/5 | Absolutely love these boots! The only bad thing about them is their price. These boots are super light and super comfortable, but also offer the rigidity of a true alpine boot. In fact this is now my only ski boot.
With the two different soles this boot can fit into both alpine and randonee bindings. Actually, I found that with the mountaineering sole on, this boot fits into my AT and alpine bindings just fine.
I have hiked up fourteeners in these things and felt great. I managed to wear out the mountaineering sole in the first season, but Garmont offers replacement soles for about $40. You can order from Garmont directly.
If you can afford these boots, they are the best thing out there. | | Posted Aug 1, 2005 1:43 pm | | junge | Best boots I ever had
Voted 5/5 | Very comfortable boot with the G-fit liner. After 10 hours of skiing, touring and climbing I still want to keep them on. Stepping into these boots is like coming home. Not at all as stiff as an expert alpine boot the Adrenalin will feel loose in the hard snow or on icy snow, and you get acquainted with some of the more exotic never-used muscles in your ankles.
