Voted 4/5 | For day climbs or day hikes, this jacket fits the bill. It's not as bomb-proof or warm as a 3-layer Goretex jacket; but it's much lighter which makes it perfect for day trips where weight is a factor. Voted 5/5 | This is jacket is with me wherever i go, from winter climbs to summer day hikes, this is truly my "go-to" jacket for all my outdoor excursions. Due to the lack of repellancy in the North Face's Nuptse Insulated Jacket, i purchased my Venture at a size where i could fit it over it easily and because the Nuptse is a bit heavy for a down, I figured keeping weight to a minimum would help and the Venture fit my needs perfectly. Keep in mind that this jacket is not very reinforced whatsoever, yet extremely lightweight and for the price and compactablity, it's unbeatable in my book.
PROs:
- Lightweight
- High collar and very good face coverage when using it as a shell in the winter or rain
- Very wide range of movement without the movement in the waist exposing vulnerable areas.
CONs:
- Durability not the greatest

Voted 4/5 | I've had mine for nearly two years now. It is pretty waterproof but needs reapplication of a treatment product fairly regularly to stay dry. The pit-zips are nice for keeping cool. It is pretty light and compresses down really small. The hood fits over a helmet. I find it is not that breathable and that I get sweaty if it is not below freezing. I find the bit by the chin annoying-it has a little fold of fabric to go over the zipper which chaffs a bit. Just nitpicking though really.
