Lightweight with a wide gate opening, ideal for both summer and winter climbing. Wiregate karabiners operate well in freezing conditions and also help prevent the 'whiplash' effect. |

Voted 4/5 | When I bought them the dilemma was: wiregate (light, no 'whiplash' effect, no freezing) or solid gate (available with keylock = no snagging). I chose the first, but soon DMM proved me wrong, making the first wiregate + keylock biner (AND 10gr lighter!). By now I have 26 of them, so there is no way I will upgrade them. I have replaced the sling with a tripled 60cm dyneema sling in a couple of the draws and liked the result for trad climbs. Pros: *Lightweight (medium by modern standards). *Cheap *Won't freeze
Cons: *They can snag (rarely do) | | Posted Feb 21, 2004 9:41 am |
