OverviewThe SLR Gear Category refers to a Single Lens Reflex camera, which is a type of camera that uses a mirror to project the image coming from the lens to the viewfinder. When the shutter is released the mirror temporarily moves, allowing the image to reach the film (or sensor chip in the case of a digital camera). SLR cameras can be either film, digital, or both. Digital SLR cameras are commonly referred to as DSLR.
